Patio-to-sunroom conversion in Norco CA - a dry room you'll actually sit in

Your patio's too hot, dusty or buggy to sit on most days. We close it in with walls and windows so it becomes a room.

Can I turn my patio into a real room?

A patio-to-sunroom conversion in Norco closes in the patio you already have with walls and windows or screens, so it becomes a room you can actually use. You can leave it unheated, or make it a heated and cooled room that's open to the house.

Usually the slab is already there, and it's too hot, too dusty or too buggy to sit on for much of the year. What moves the price is the size, whether you go three-season or four-season, how much insulation goes in and what the slab edge needs before walls can sit on it. The schedule turns on those same choices and on how long the windows and materials take to arrive, and the written estimate after my visit lays out what's in the job and what isn't. If what you've got is a tired old enclosure, sunroom remodeling may be the better fit.

How we handle a patio-to-sunroom conversion

I start at the edge of your slab, because it decides how the walls sit and where water goes, and most people don't think about it until it's a problem. Once I've seen how far it runs past the house and what shape it's in, I pick the wall approach to suit it. Then we settle the room type and the insulation together, since those two choices decide the windows, the framing and the roof before anything gets ordered. On build days our crew sets the base, anchors and seals the walls to the slab, frames the room, puts in the windows, roofs it and cleans up when we're done.

Not every room starts on a patio. If yours would sit over a raised wood deck, a deck-to-sunroom conversion begins with making sure the deck can carry it. And if you want a room you'll use in August and January alike, look at our all season rooms, which are built heated and cooled from the start.

What shapes a patio-to-sunroom conversion in Norco

California's energy code sets efficiency requirements for additions to existing houses and for alterations to them. Several of those standards, including the ones for window and door materials, depend on the climate zone your house sits in. So when you want a heated and cooled room, we pick windows and doors to fit your climate zone instead of grabbing whatever's on the shelf, and we work that into the estimate so it doesn't turn into a surprise halfway through.

We're based in Norco and build all over the cities around it, and most patios we meet were poured years ago and take hard afternoon sun. We see the same slabs on jobs in Corona and Eastvale, so we think about shade, roof color and which way the room faces from the first visit.

How your patio conversion goes

  1. Call or send the form

Call (951) 393-1005 or use the form, and we'll set a time for me to come out. Weekday and weekend hours both work.

  2. I measure and ask questions

I come out myself to look at the patio, measure and ask how you plan to use the room. You get a written estimate that says what's included and what isn't, so you know what you're paying for before you decide.

  3. Permits handled, then the build

If the job needs a permit, we put the application together, deal with your city or county building office and set up the inspections. Then our own crew does the build.

  4. Walk the room together

Before we call it done, I walk the finished room with you. That's the time to look over the base, the windows and the doors, and ask anything about how the room works.

Questions before you close in your patio

What's the difference between a three-season and a four-season sunroom?

A four-season room is heated and cooled and has all-weather windows, while a three-season room or enclosed patio isn't, and it uses uninsulated windows or screens. Insulated windows and insulation in the walls, floor and roof go in much more easily during the build, and adding them later can often cost more. If there's a chance you'll want the room in the July heat, I'd plan for it now.

How much does a patio-to-sunroom conversion cost near Norco?

A sunroom in the Riverside area usually costs about $95 to $200 per square foot, and that's the going range around here, not our price. Larger rooms that need a foundation and have heating and air conditioning land at the high end of it. Your own number comes from the written estimate after I've measured your patio.

Can sunroom walls go on my existing patio slab?

Usually yes, but the edge of the slab decides how. When a slab runs 4 inches or more past the foundation wall and the new wall lines up with the house walls, it leaves a ledge that raises water and safety concerns. Common ways around it are a masonry curb, which is a short block wall the frame sits on, a pressure-treated wood curb or cutting the slab back, and whichever one we use, the anchoring and sealing are what make it hold up.

What license does a sunroom contractor need in California?

Anyone contracting for work worth $1000 or more in labor and materials combined needs a current, valid license from the state licensing board. For a kitchen remodel that puts plumbing, electrical and carpentry under one contract, the board points to a licensed General Building contractor, so it's fair to ask which trades your sunroom contract covers.

What causes a damp spot on a sunroom floor after rain?

On a slab that's bigger than the room, it's often outside water showing through at the base. One sunroom maker says that when the floor channel, the track the bottom of the wall sits in, is sealed straight to the concrete, outside water can show up as a damp spot inside that goes away as the wet weather passes. That maker says it isn't a structural problem.

How do I take care of a sunroom after it's built?

One maker's guide suggests inspecting the roof and gutters once a year, which makes sense since that's where leaves and dust pile up first. Every room we build carries satisfaction guaranteed on every job, and if a question comes up later, give us a call.

Why Norco homeowners call Suncrest Norco Sunrooms & Patios for patio conversions

  • Licensed for enclosures, not covers

We're licensed and fully insured, and the license matters on this job because the state's awning and patio cover class says it doesn't include patio enclosures. A contractor licensed only for patio covers isn't licensed to close in your patio.

  • Building in Norco since 2017

I learned the trade on a sunroom and patio crew and started this business in Norco in 2017, so we've spent 9 years building around patios like yours. You're getting someone who's seen how these slabs and summers treat a room.

  • Straight answers on room type

If a four-season room won't earn its cost for the way you'll use it, I'll tell you and point you to something simpler. A room you don't sit in, or one that lets water in at the base, is money wasted.

On this job the edge of the slab decides more than anything else, so book a visit and I'll look at yours first.

  • Deck-to-sunroom conversion

When the space you want to close in is a raised deck instead of a slab, this starts with checking that the framing underneath can carry walls and a roof.

  • All season rooms

When you want the room comfortable year-round and open to the house, this is the heated and cooled version built for exactly that.
